A little card with a HUGE MESSAGE~ and the Message comes from you- “Say it forward”
The idea of Instant Message came from a mother and her two daughters who live in Cheshire Connecticut. They are currently the Co-Founders of The CUREchief Foundation a non-profit 501c3 charity whose mission is to spread hope around the world.
Sandra, Steph and Allie Centorino were tired of all the bad news on television, radio and newspapers, and felt that they needed to add something new to the way they spread hope.
“I constantly hear stories and witness kids bullying their classmates Allie told her mom.” “There are so many elderly people in nursing homes without any family or friends to visit them” shared Steph. There are people addicted to drugs and alcohol, homeless, unemployed, depressed with no self-esteem, someone that just needs a little something. There is so much focus on the negative and bad things happening in the world right now. What especially disturbs us is the way that kids treat each other, bullying, random shootings, the war, and the recent tragedy in Japan. The list goes on and on….
It’s TIME now for INSTANT MESSAGE. Our trademark mini card that’s so cool and colorful and really fun to give away. We have been passing them forward and having a blast. We started by leaving an Instant Message card on a table at Panera and then looking back to see a young girl pick it up, read it, and smile. Then we then handed one to a young mother and her daughter, and told them we were on a mission “to change the world” and spread HOPE. We explained what the Instant Message card was, and she told me she got the chills listening to us! She then asked if she could have a few to “say it forward”. Our next card was handed to a woman in a really crabby mood, as she waited for her coffee in a long line at Dunkin Donuts! We were a bit scared to approach her, but decided to say “here is something little to cheer you up”, she stopped, smiled, and thanked us, and changed her mood. Then the girl waiting on her asked if she could have one too!
Allie and Steph have been distributing Instant Message cards to students at Cheshire High and UConn where they have witnessed many smiles and great reactions!
