Happy 4th Anniversary!

Happy 4th Anniversary!

On Saturday January 24th I made a visit to the Imaculate Heart of Mary Parish Group.  This day was the mark of their 4th Anniversary , and these amazing  dedicated volunteers lead by a couple of “Super Heroes” named Charmaine & Joe- have actually made over 50,000 CUREchiefs!   The placed was filled with love!   It was nice to see the very young working with parents and siblings , and the seniors…even a 98 year old woman!  The parish center smelled like a restaurant, as Dennis and Joe cooked up a storm!

I made an announcement that we were planning a special  event in May called  “Heroes-Hoops and Hope”, where all of these “Super Hereos” would be honored for a special night!

I will keep you all posted…

When I confirmed my trip to LA to the Ellen Show, we decided to do and see as much as we could fit into our 3 short days!

Trish and I thought that we would attend as many shows and events as we could arrange, but the first and most important part of our trip was to deliver CUREchiefs and spread HOPE!   I immediately made a call to a very special person, her name is Dr. Philomena McAndrew.   I was so inspired by Christina Applegate and Dr. McAndrew that I wanted to make a special delivery in honor of them.  I had seen Christina on several shows last fall and was truly amazed and inspired by her courage.

Dr. McAndrew was thrilled and excited to hear from me and encouraged us to visit and deliver CUREchiefs.   To insure that the CUREchiefs would make it there, I sent almost 800 to our hotel before we arrived!

On Wednesday January 7th Trish and I drove to Beverly Hills, not sure what to expect, but very excited to meet and visit with Dr. McAndrew and her staff and patients.

I never imagined that this visit would be my most memorable “CUREchief Moment” in 8 years… I was also happy that Trish could take part and witness what happened when we delivered our CUREchiefs filled with HOPE.  Words cannot even describe this visit…

My sincere thanks to the caring staff at Tower Oncology , especially Dr. McAndrew, Mary Fox and Carly Swartz, for making us feel so special and appreciated.     Trish and I were so touched by all,  and were so honored to meet some patients and their families as well.  We truly felt like we (Trish and I) were the “celebrities” for the day!

This day made it all clear to me that CUREchiefs touch lives, bring HOPE and COMFORT to others and bring people together.  We look forward to working with the team at Tower Oncology in spreading HOPE in California!

Warm & Fuzzy Wishes,

Sandy

Sandy reunites with Pat (the lady from the train) at the Ellen Show!

Posted under Spreading HOPE by Sandra on 15 January 2009

What a great way to start 2009….

My husband decided to give me a trip to Los Angeles for my birthday!   It all started by getting a call from The Ellen Show telling me that I had been selected to receive 4 tickets for the January 8th show, and the rest just happened…

Here is a little story that I sent Ellen, I hope you like it!

Passion+ Pushy = CUREchief Lady

“You never know how or when you might touch another life”

This is all about  “CUREchief”, warm & fuzzy bandanas that are made from “Caring People Brought Together Through Fabric”.
I was on the train in New York with my two daughters February vacation, time to visit the city.  The door of the train opened as I found myself drawn to a pretty woman with dark hair who was sitting with her friend.   My daughters quickly moved to the other side and laughed when they saw me chatting with the woman  “oh no there she goes again,” they both said.
My challenge: I had about 5 minutes or 3 stops to tell this lady all about CUREchief!
As I heard her speak I noticed that we both had really bad “Boston Accents” so immediately we bonded.
I took a few CUREchiefs out of my tote bag to pass them forward when she said nicely, “no I don’t know anyone with cancer.”  Then I became kind of pushy and told her to please take 3, she now lives in California so I thought it would be cool to send some to the west coast!
The train stopped as she got off she smiled, and thought, that lady is really pushy!
One year had passed, when she emailed me, told me that my passion+ pushy paid off!  The CUREchiefs were given to 3 strangers sent with a note that she wrote telling them how we met.  Pat and I then spoke and I actually saw the notes that the 3 strangers all sent back to her!  So I am convinced, Passion+ Pushy is a great way to touch lives!

I decided to call my friend from the train to surprise her, I asked her if she wanted to meet me again and offered her one of my tickets to Ellen!

This was truly amazing!  We spent the day together joined by our 2 of our friends Trish and Anne.

I am hoping that my story inspires you to take a chance, reach out to a stranger, do something nice for someone…just do it, and then wait and see what happens!

In my case the “CUREchief” was the thing that brought us together, just a little piece of fabric….thanks Pat.. for passing them forward,  and then taking time to call me and tell me what happened!   I will always treasure this story~

Warm & Fuzzy Wishes,

Sandy
